When our communities are strong, our country is strong. But right now, the bonds that hold us together are fraying and we need a place to make them whole. In over 10,000 communities across the country, the Y is that place. It fills the gaps, bridges our divides, and gives us common ground to stand on. The Y – For a better us.
Aquatic Director Courtney Hancock gives the run down of the Y’s new swim lesson program.
The Manatee YMCA hosted the Southeast Region Championship Youth Football and Cheerleading Competition.
In March, the Manatee YMCA delivered more than 5,000 worth of books to Daughtrey Elementary. Students each got to pick out a book to take home. Special thanks to Books A Million, BB&T, SunTrust Bank, The Early Learning Coalition Hultman Sensenig and Joshi, P.A., BMO Harris Bank, and Grimes Goebel Grimes Hawkins Gladfelter & Galvano, P.L. for their generous donations!

Some communities lack the opportunity and resources they need to thrive. While the world only pays attention to these places when they make national news headlines, the Y is on the ground every day helping people break out of a cycle of poverty with safe spaces, mentorship programs, healthy meals, education and more.
All kids need a safe and productive place to both release their energy and discover their potential. The Y is America’s community space—providing recreation, education, nutrition, a place to belong, camp and outdoor exploration, character development and more.
